I have learned that many blogs publish some statistics at year end and suggest a contest among readers asking which blog post during the year is their favorite. The reason for this practice is to boost readership and consequent advertising income. Old Ones Dream does not and will not take advertising but we’ll do the year end story anyway because it’s interesting.
Old Ones Dream is a blog about Community, Family and Food - and Memory and flaws of Memory. It deals prominently with “Travel” and “Rural Roots”. Although Old Ones Dream, so far, refuses to deal with matters of religion or party politics, it does not try to avoid controversy, and some times seems to invite it under the category “Righteous”.
Old Ones Dream got going in January 2013 and posted 62 “stories” by year end. There were 101 comments posted by readers. During 2013 there were 1257 unique visitors who viewed pages 3227 times during 2248 visits. Typepad statistics indicate that Old Ones Dream has experienced 11 page views per day since inception. All of these traffic stats are slowly but surely increasing. I am happy with the publication pace of more than one story per week and I plan to continue that pace. The other statistics are just data for comparison in the future.
Some of the posts seemed to “get in the way”, more so than others, when people searched the internet. That does not mean that they were searching for that page, but that they hit that page for whatever reason. The top 5 most viewed pages according to Google Analytics, are as follows:
Charlene’s Famous Seafood Chowder: The Best I Ever Had
German Prisoners of War in South Carolina
Alamo Springs Cafe Hamburger: The Best I Ever Had
A Good Slow Rain on the Great American Outback
Big Bend Ranch State Park
I have a favorite story. You tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine. OK! If you know me you know that I can’t wait and I’ll go ahead and tell you mine.
Well! Even if you don’t come out and play, Old One wishes you the best year ever!
