When we talked last, I closed saying “I am going to sit tight and wait and watch. With an open mind.” I thought the implication was that we might learn something. I had no idea.
After the election I briefly wrote more about politics than I had, and I began to lose friends at a greater rate than normal. Some didn’t understand my usage of being “… ignorant of what they were voting for…” I am a writer so I understand that if I am misunderstood it is my own fault. And, I was wrong to boot! I should have used President George W. Bush’s famous saying: I should have said that those who voted for Trump “over-underestimated” what they were voting for, and it is certainly obvious that the opposition voters “over-underestimated” what they were voting against. Bless W’s heart—he had no idea.
In attempt to minimize future misunderstandings I will state that I am registered as an Unaffiliated (Independent) voter, and have been for many years. I consider myself to be Progressive, and
I am an unconditional Pacifist.
I tend to agree with the domestic policies espoused by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, except for: see number 1. above.
See Number 1. above.
Last week I decided my “sit back and watch” period should end and I would write about what I had learned so far—as follows:
Marco Rubio, who I’ve always considered to be a member of “the loyal opposition,” is an excellent choice for Secretary of State
Pam Bondi for Justice and, I thought, Scott Bessent for Treasury would probably be just fine
Robert F Kennedy, Jr for HHS might make some headway toward breaking up the tight relationship between corporate food, corporate medicine, medical schools, and the bought and paid for US Congress that caters to making every business wish come true for Big Pharma and Big Ag, and
Tulsi Gabbard as National Security Director might be my favorite choice of all for she seems to be an Anti-War outsider that could shake up the intelligence community and help make the world a safer place for military age folk of all nations.
And then the Wired Magazine piece came out describing Musk’s Coup.
So, as I said in an earlier conversation—all bets are off. Let’s talk again soon.

Tom Trawick, that you should lose friemds because of politics is absurd. People who take politics that seriously must be looking for a religion, or must be desperate for friends. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? As a friend (and a valued one), you are free to believe as you please--what else is friendship for? You are a good friend with original and independent ideas. Stay true to yourself and damn the errant tornadoes! Eston Roberts
