Tom, As usual a great piece of writing on a subject eminently yours. I found his presentation thoughtful and pleasing to the tongue. Thank you for your contributions, Eston Roberts
I love this post. Thank you for sharing your story and Eric's. I have always loved the song and while I am happy now to have heard the back story I much prefer to hear Nancy sing it. I am certain Eric would not be offended. RIP.

It is July 9, 2020, and just this evening I learned of Eric`s passing. It saddens me and gave me plenty to meditate upon as I`ve known his entire body of work since his early days at the Fair in Houston. A terrific guitarist and poet par excellence. I ran into him one night about a dozen years ago when he told me he was trying to bring about some better days for himself. I was a kindred spirit and told him so, and I was happy to shake his hand at the end of our talk. Eric poured his energy into his music, and I`ve always been a grateful recipient for hearing him . Thanks Eric and all those who helped him along the way.

Nice blog. Eric was my father. I’m sure he would have loved to meet you and talk.

I love reading your blog, not only as a Traywick, but a big Nanci Griffith listener who learned about Eric Taylor from the song.
Hey Janie, thanks, coming from you that means a lot. Traywick do hang together don't we?
