February 16, 2013 in the afternoon I set up camp at Papalotito Colorado, an open hilltop with a fire ring and sun shade and a view of La Mota Mountain (E 5000'+). All of my gear was miraculously present and accounted for including plenty of good dry mesquite wood compliments of Rocky. All systems worked but that the ground was extremely resistant to tent pegs.
La Mota as the sun was setting.
I fixed a pretty good supper which included pork chop, cabbage and onions, and quinoa. It got cold fast and I got in my 15 degree bag to read and went to sleep immediately - bad idea. It was a long night, cold and the coyotes were frisky. It reportedly got down to about F 30 but my water did not freeze. In the morning it was a little rough to get out of the 15 degree bag and rekindle the fire and put on the coffee.

The coffee was Sumatra Gayo Mountain from Big Bend Coffee Roasters in Marfa, but it may not have mattered what it was - it was the best I ever had.
