Mardi Gras is over.
Over but not forgotten - the streets were covered in tokens of ceremony. My taxi from Union Station had to drop me with luggage 4 blocks from The International House where I spent a little of the night. Had supper at Luke (Shrimp and Grits). Found a wonderful breakfast at 6 this morning - family owned (Jordanian) Daisy Dukes Restaurant. Boarded Train Number 1, the Sunset Limited and am El Paso bound. The train is sold out. I practically had the train to myself from Greenville to New Orleans - this will be interesting. 28 hours and 22 minutes to El Paso.
